An Independent study confirms the antibacterial properties of Orfit’s thermoplastic material.

A team of researchers at the University of South Alabama (Mobile, AL) investigated the bacterial attachment/survival of four different bacteria on Orfit’s thermoplastic material. Bacteria included in the study were:

  • Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)
  • Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
  • Vancomycin Susceptible Enterococcus Faecalis
  • Escherichia Coli.

Study results indicate that 99.99% up to 100% of these bacteria were unable to attach or grow onto the surface of Orfit’s thermoplastic material. The full study report can be found here.

The antibacterial effect of the Orfit unique water-based surface coating prevents potential cross-contamination and helps in the fight against nosocomial infections in a hospital environment. In addition, the antibacterial coating also contains a non-stick component that prevents the thermoplastic material from sticking to hair, skin and hardware.
