This type of orthosis can be used for patients following severe burns, crush injuries or fractures of the hand and fingers and also for patients with arthritis. The resting hand orthosis can also be used to minimize joint contractures, prevent overstretching of weakened muscles and hold tight flexor tendons in a position to facilitate lengthening of tissue.
