The Orficast product range is the new generation of thermoplastic materials for immobilization purposes.

Orficast is an innovative, textile-like thermoplastic material designed for immobilization applications. Made from stretchable, self-adhesive thermoplastic fibers, it offers exceptional adaptability and ease of use. Originally available in blue, Orficast now also comes in black and orange.

Available in convenient 300 cm (118″) rolls, Orficast comes in two thicknesses: Orficast and Orficast More, each offering different width options to suit various applications:

• Orficast: 3 cm (1.18″) and 6 cm (2.5″)
• Orficast More: 6 cm (2.5″), 15 cm (5.9″), and 30 cm (11.8″)

Orficast More is a thicker version of the original Orficast, offering additional strength and support while maintaining the same flexibility and conformability. The increased material thickness avoids the need to use two layers for rigid orthoses and provides a longer working time. Both versions are suitable for a wide range of orthotic applications:

• 3 cm (1.18″) & 6 cm (2.5″) – Ideal for finger and hand orthoses
• 15 cm (5.9″) & 30 cm (11.8″) – Designed for hand, wrist, and forearm-based orthoses

Despite its simple appearance, Orficast is a high-tech solution that offers exceptional performance. Read more below.

1. The low activation temperature (65°C -149°F) allows you to apply Orficast/Orficast More directly onto your patient without burning the skin.
2. The Orficast products conform perfectly to the patient’s individual anatomy.
3. The activation time is really quick! (Maximum 1 minute for Orficast and 2 minutes for Orficast More in a Suspan water bath at 65°C). There is enough working time to wrap or position the material on the patient. Within 1-2 minutes, the orthosis is already hard enough to support the injured body part.
4. The knitted structure results in a stretchable, thin, lightweight orthosis which allows the skin to breath and prevents maceration.
5. There is no need to wear gloves while using and applying Orficast.
6. Heat activated Orficast is self-adhesive, without the risk of accidental bonding: the overlapping layers will stick to each other when firmly pressed together, seams will stick permanently together if the material is cut whilst still warm. This makes it great for beginning and experienced therapists
7. The fabricated Orficast orthosis can easily be trimmed with scissors to remove excessive material. Hook and loop tape can easily be attached to the orthosis to ensure a good support.
8. The resulting orthosis is light and compact, allowing patients the ability to continue their daily tasks without interference.
9. Orficast has a comfortable and soft feeling: the edges of the overlapping layers or seams after cutting are visible on the outside of the splint/ cast but are not felt on the inside.
10. Orficast can be reactivated in order to completely remake the splint or make small corrections to the shape.
