Head & Neck Backrest
The Orfit Head & Neck Backrest is designed to address the unique challenges of immobilization in upright radiotherapy, supporting both treatment accuracy and patient comfort. Its thoughtful design addresses the needs of both patients and radiation therapy teams, combining comfortable patient positioning with easy handling and reproducible setups for upright proton and photon treatments.
The Head & Neck Backrest is specifically developed for compatibility with Leo Cancer Care’s upright radiotherapy systems, bringing Orfit’s expertise in patient positioning to the upright treatment environment.

The slightly curved neck section closely follows the natural anatomy of the head, neck and shoulders in a seated position. - Easy height adjustment
The backrest is height-adjustable to accommodate patients of different heights. The adjustment mechanism is positioned outside the treatment field. - High-performance and proton-ready material
Made from low-density material, the backrest has a homogeneous design for smooth transitions and consistent WET performance across the treatment region, supporting predictable and reliable beam transmission for proton therapy. - Lightweight and ergonomic design
Weighing 5kg (11.0 lbs.), the backrest is easy to handle and can be securely attached to the Leo Cancer Care upright patient positioning solution by a single member of the clinical team. - Spine cut-out
The integrated spine cut-out allows for CSI treatments in the seated position.
HP PRO Nanor® Masks
The complete Upright Patient Positioning Solution features the proven HP PRO Nanor® mask portfolio, offering a comprehensive range of brain, head & neck immobilization options. The masks are available in different thicknesses and include open-face options to accommodate different clinical needs and preferences.
The mask is securely fastened to the backrest using a patented quick click-on/off connection, making application and removal simple and efficient for the radiation therapy team. All masks are designed without sharp corners or edges to ensure smooth, interference-free beam delivery.
Conventional immobilization solutions have limitations regarding patient comfort and some clinicians naturally hold on to the most rigid materials available in the market.
With our HP PRO masks, made of Nanor®, we focus on the impact a mask can have on a positive patient experience. Nanor is the thinnest thermoplastic on the market, made using patented nanotechnology. Nanoparticles bring substantial improvement to the mechanical properties of the immobilization mask:

Choose between a reusable foam Head Support, available in different models to accommodate different patient anatomies, or create a customized head support tailored to the individual patient using our Moldcare.
Additional support when seated
An abdominal belt can be used to help prevent slouching in the seated position. By providing additional support, it helps enhance patient comfort and maintain a stable, reproducible position.
